Sandi Is Back Among The Living

Well, it's nice to be considered living. I was wondering there for a while. Last Monday, I started getting sick. On Tuesday, I was really sick. Very achy, so hot I was sweating profusely to being so cold I was shivering with 4 blankets on. On Wednesday, I went to my doctor and he said it was definitely strep. He gave me a HUGE shot of Rosefrin (sp) and sent me home. My glands were so swollen, I couldn't breath through my nose. My nose was clear but I was VERY swollen. My throat was excruciatingly sore. I could hardly speak much less swallow. The pain was horrendous. Thursday was lost in a delirious fever oblivion. Friday, my aches were gone and the fever wasn't as extreme, but I was still very sick. So I went back to my doctor. He gave me a prescription of Augmenton (sp) and took some blood and sent me on my way. The size of those pills was a joke. They would make a horse gag. Somehow, I choked my first one down and then laid down and cried - it hurt so bad. The pain meds I'd been taking (percocet, IB 800) were barely taking the edge off. By Saturday night, the swelling had gone down and swallowing was bearable. Sunday was better and I ate some soup and was able to during a whole glass of water. By Monday, I was able to drink without pain, and boy did I drink. Even though I get tired really easy, I'm at least conscience. This was the worst case of strep I have ever had. In fact if someone told me this experience, I would think they were exaggerating. I cannot believe how sick I was. My doc said it was a "raging case of strep." Thinking back on last week, I don't remember so much. Bret and I had conversations and I don't even remember them. The kids were great. They were really good in the morning, watching cartoons and eating whatever they could rummage and then Bret would come home for lunch and fix them food and then farm them out to friends so I could sleep. Then he'd come home and fix dinner entertain the kids and get them ready for bed. I would sleep through it all. It was horrible. I'm so thankful for the priesthood and modern medicine.
Now I have to get back to normal. I still get tired REALLY fast. But my house and yard are disasters. It's going to take me 3 weeks just to get things back to where they were a week ago. We are just praying no one else gets this.

I hope you don't mind that I peaked at your blog. Ammy gave me the address. It's fun to keep in touch this way. I'm sorry you were sick. That does not sound fun at all. It's never fun to be sick but it seems like its worse if you get sick in the summertime. I'm glad your getting better!
