So I've been thinking lately about taking my blog private. My question to ALL of you - what are the benefits to going private? What don't you like about being private? What are the benefits to being public? What don't you like being public? Tell me your honest opinions - I want to know.

I have wondered about this same thing. Let me know what feedback you get.
When it is private, only people you invite can see it and it doesn't update in the blog list on other people's sites the same.
On the plus side, you can write whatever you want without fear of weirdos or even just people from your community that you want to be able to talk about (without them knowing) reading it.
Right now I have mine set to be public, but I unchecked the boxes to allow my blog to be searched by google or to be accessed through the "next blog" button. I'm hoping that this will bring a balance of the benefits of easier access while still keeping creeps I've never met from looking at my kids. However, I still feel I need to be careful not to list exact info on where I live and I do have to remember that it is public and anyone could be reading it.
